Big names in the world of training enter the 2019 Asian Cup in the UAE with their eyes on the continental title that begins with the UAE and Bahrain national teams at the Zayed Sports Stadium on January 5.
The second of the continent’s greatest trophies is attended by a strong presence of elite coaches who have achieved great successes on the global level, led by Italian coach Marcello Lippi, who led his country Italy to the World Cup 2006 in Germany.
The list of the most famous trainers in the Asian Cup also includes Sven-Goran Eriksson who led England to the quarter-finals of the 2002 and 2006 World Cups, now leading the Philippines during his trip to the tournament as well as the former coach Carlos Queiroz, Three different teams to qualify for the World Cup finals are South Africa (2002), Portugal (2010) and Iran (2014 and 2018).
Since taking charge of the Iranian team, we have faced several challenges. Now, eight years later, we are heading to the Asian Cup in the UAE and have laid a solid foundation for future generations.
Through our participation, we aim to bring happiness to the hearts of the Iranian people and provide a performance worthy of the ambitions of its fans, especially as we have a good body of players and that will enable us to achieve our goals and to provide the best performance during the tournament.
In addition to Queiroz, Eriksson and Lippi, the Asian Cup 2019 is attended by seven coaches who have already been trained at the World Cup, with only two of them winning the Asian Championships. The UAE coach Alberto Zaccheroni is currently crowned fourth in Japan in 2011.
“I have great memories in my career as a player since 1992 in Hiroshima and despite my absence from the final of the suspension, it would be nice to have the experience again and win the title as a coach and we will do our best to regain the title.”
said Moriasso. .
In order to do this, we have played seven preparatory games for the tournament, as well as some new players after the World Cup, in order to renew the blood of the team and refinement of young players to form a strong team in the long term, and we will seek during the tournament to progress gradually to reach the final and achieve our ambitions to win the title.
Over the course of 28 days, the tournament will show the thirst of football fans around the world with strong competitions in which coaches play a role that is as important as the continent’s players fighting for the biggest event in the history of Asian football.
